Taking Care Of A New Kitten

Taking Care Of A New KittenApparently pets are good for your health and are known to keep loneliness and depression at bay. With a lively pet in the house, you will never feel the need of having someone around you all the time and doctors are in fact recommending pet therapy to attain sound psychological health. Choosing a pet entirely depends on your individual preference. Most people mainly women and kids love having a cute kitten for company and treat it just like a child. They love taking care of a new kitten. Cats have often been associated with mystery and power and were considered as a witch's best friend. This could be because they are usually more intelligent as compared to dogs and also require little or no grooming assistance like dogs. They use their saliva to clean their coat and once taught to use litter boxes properly they can easily manage on their own. However, you need to prepare yourself for taking care of a new kitten before you invite your new pet into your house and buy some supplies to ensure that it has a comfortable stay.

How To Stop Cats From Biting You

Cat owners would sometimes complain their cats bite them, and are wondering if this is an aggressive behavior they should control.

Cats bite for many reasons. Not all cats bite out of aggression. Some bite because they are being playful with their owners, and it is a way to show their affection to them. Others bite because they do not want to be petted anymore by their owners, it is a way of telling their owners not to pet them anymore.

Others bite, especially the owners' hands, because they mistake the owners' hands for toys. If this happens, you should move your hand away and stop petting them or give them a toy to play with. Whatever you do, always remember not to encourage your cat to bite your hand or else this habit will be ingrained in their behavior until it becomes too hard to control.

Cat Urine On Your Carpet

Cat Urine On The Carpet? Oh, No…

Getting cat urine on your carpet is by no means one of the joys of pet ownership. It can be really distressing and frustrating and it is easy to get angry at kitty…

Cat urine is one of the more challenging odors to remove especially when not using proper cleaning products. When cat urine is allowed to dry in a carpet, amino acids in the urine actually bonds with the fibers of the rug.

Not only do amino acids bind with the carpet, so do salts. Salts cause a bond with an ionic charge that is increasingly difficult to dissolve the longer the urine has been on the carpet. Steam cleaning, or home made cleaners will not dissolve these strong bonds, actually steam cleaning the carpet may make the problem worse.

Stop Cat Scratching

Cats are among the most endearing creatures on the planet, we love them to bits. Their unique personalities allow them to walk into our lives unannounced and simply take up residence within minutes. Ask anyone who has ever been adopted by a roaming cat, that one day decided to walk onto your property.

One thing we, as owners, seem to forget time and time again is they are only half domesticated. Put aside all that cute cuddly fur for one moment, forget about them rolling around in front on the fire. When kitty decides to strike, it hurts and sometimes it can be fairly messy. Cats have got two sets of claws, ones for playing around the house with and ones for ruthlessly taking down pigeons and chasing away others daring to wander onto their territory.

A cat will always have at least some tendency to scratch. Stopping your cat from scratching you is something that can be learned if and when the time comes.

How To Get A Fussy Cat To Eat

Many cat owners become worried that their fussy-eater will go hungry or will become malnourished. There are many reasons why cats refuse to eat. Here are some tips on how you can encourage your fussy eater to dig in.

If your cat has just recently become fussy about their food, or their appetite has suddenly changed, this could be a sign of illness and you should get him/her checked by your vet.

1. Warm the food to body temperature. This will make the food smellier and make it more appetizing. Warm dry food for a few minutes on low heat in an oven or warm wet food in a microwave for ten seconds.

2. Mix a tasty canned food with your cat's usual food to induce your cat to eat. Alternatively, if you open a can of tuna, salmon or sardines for yourself, you can mix some of it in with the cat's food.

3. Don't give your cat more than 10 minutes to eat what is in the bowl. If the food is still there, take the bowl away. Your cat is more likely to eat food that is in short supply and only available briefly.

Natural Cat Food Is Always Best

Here are 6 tips to finding the best natural cat food:

1. Always read your labels! Everything you need to know is on the label. Look past the colors and cute pictures and take a closer look at what's inside the bag or can. It will let you know whether you have a good quality cat food or not. A good quality natural cat food should have chicken, turkey, liver or catfish meal in the first ingredients. These are very easy for a cat to digest.

2.Stay away from a cat food that has corn, glutens, wheat, dairy or soy in it. These are very difficult for a cat to digest. They have also been found to be common food allergens in cats.

3. What kind of protein is in the food? Is it animal or vegetable protein? A high quality cat food will always have more animal protein.

What You Need to Know About Cat Food

Cat Food Info #1 Cats Need Protein in their Cat Food

The cat food you feed to your cat should always be rich in protein. This generally should come from meat, poultry or fish. Many cat food brands advertise chicken, beef, and tuna flavored cat food because they know that cats need protein and cat owners are looking for quality cat food. However, you need to make sure the cat food you buy has a sufficient amount of cat food regardless of what flavor it is.

Cat Food Info #2 Cat Food with Taurine

Also check the cat food you typically buy for an amino acid called taurine. This particular amino acid is very important in the overall health of your cat, and your cat will eat as much food as it has to in order to supplement this particular amino acid. So, if you are buying cheap cat food that does not have the proper nutrients your cat will eat a lot. If you buy a nutrient rich cat food then your cat will eat little and save you more money while still getting proper nutrition.
